Fr Anthony Debono in 1925: “I am living in a hut that lets the water pass through everywhere, except in one little spot. It is there that I spend the day, but I cannot sleep there. I spend the night in the place given to me by the headman of the village, where he keeps his hens, his rice.......in spite of it (the challenging situations), I am not discouraged. All beginnings are hard and the greater the sufferings are now, the greater the blessings will be on this Mission….the chief consolation of it was the realization of the good will and dispositions of the Christians as a whole……Take life as it comes, with a smile."
